    Coolant Recommendations?

I have Evans in my old Mercedes and will put it in the hemi after I fix a few issues with the engine. It seems to work great, and I run it at zero pressure. The advantage it has over conventional coolant is that it's waterless, therefore, no corrosion, cavitation or electrolysis. It is billed...

69 B body - Fan blade orientation - Feeling dumb... and sober

The bent tips face the block. Last year at the Chrysler nationals I was looking at a nice Dart convertible and asked the owner if there was any reason he ran his fan backwards. He didn't even know it was on the wrong way.

    R-12 to R134-A question

Stay with the R12- it's a much better refrigerant that 134. It cools better, does not have the propensity to leak, runs at lower pressure, and is not as corrosive if any moisture gets into the system.

Going to give the Evan's HP coolant a try

The proper way to install Evans on a working system is to use their prep fluid to remove any traces of water. It can be checked with a refractometer to verify its water content. It can be used in stages to do multiple vehicles, i.e., slightly watered prep fluid can be flushed with new, and so...

    65 Coronet heater core

I have a new radiator for my '66 Coronet on order. They really know their stuff.

    Evans Coolant with 6.1 Hemi

I use it in my '83 Mercedes 300D and it works great. No problem with heat either. When I get further into it, the '66 Coronet will get the Evans coolant also.

Going to give the Evan's HP coolant a try

Does this have any effect on the heat being supplied to the passengers? I don't notice any difference in my Mercedes. However, it doesn't have the same specific heat as pure water. Neither does conventional anti-freeze, for that matter.

Don't be fooled by aftermarket cooling systems

Another option is NPG- no corrosion, no cavitation, no water, and it boils at 370* at zero pressure. www.evanscooling.com

    Dodge Ram Diesel heater Leak

I can't really answer your question, as when I had my '95, I never had any HVAC issues other than a failed pressure line on the AC. I don't know if the AC system has to be discharged/recharged to reach the heater core. If you have the equipment and possibly a helper, I would attempt it myself.

    Dodge Ram Diesel heater Leak

The 2001 uses a completely different HVAC system than the third generation. Yours is vacuum operated, while the newer trucks use stepper motors, which could overpower and strip the splines in the plastic doors.

Going to give the Evan's HP coolant a try

The lower pressure cap helps a lot too. That's what I run on my 2003 Ram with no issue at all. If you really need a 15# cap to keep the cooling system in check, you have other issues that should be addressed. The only exception to that opinion that I'm aware of is some newer vehicles that...

Going to give the Evan's HP coolant a try

I use it in my '83 Mercedes and it works great. You may also want to get the refractometer so you can make sure that the prep fluid has removed all the water, and to verify that the final solution does not exceed the water content, which I believe is 3%. I also have it in my standby generator...

    Dodge Ram Diesel heater Leak

While you're in there, replace all the doors with HeaterTreater parts. (www.heatertreaterweb3.com) I had the local dealer do my '03 about a year ago, labor was only $445, and I supplied the doors. The tech had done at least 100 of them and did a perfect job. He didn't remove the dash, just...

67 318 running hot after water pump replacement

If you want to do your cooling system a favor, and eliminate corrosion, cavitation and electrolysis, switch it to NPG. It's a little pricey the first time, but works well. It can also be run at zero pressure, preserving your hoses, heater core and radiator. I use it in my old Mercedes with...
