At the OP's power level, I wouldn't bother. 550 HP or more, I would.
Been down that road several times, up to 3.5", X, & Race Bullets on my drag car.

If the OP doesn't have a good exhaust shop near him, I'd call Accurate & see if they have a dual system for a 318.
2.25" is probably the largest tube I'd use, 2.0" is fine for that application.
Or use 2.25" into the mufflers and 2.0" out - tailpipe size is a factor in sound volume.

I ran into something like that on a set of Hedmans on a BB swap into a '64 Savoy, but vertically.
In my case, the collectors were too high and a straight path out would hit the T-bar crossmember.
A pair of S-bends cured the problem.
I can't speak for a '73, but they did change orientation from time to time:
'70 orientation is rotated from '68-'69.
Check the part # on that manifold and that should tell you.
You might also check the pipe part # and confirm it's for a '73.
Where does the exhaust exit ? I haven't had a droning problem on anything with full tailpipes, whether Flowmasters or Super Turbos. Exiting at the rear axle, they'd drone. On a 512" Duster with a 3" system & Flowmasters, it was horrible; but adding 2.5" tailpipes to the rear bumper cured that...
