    Yep, I'm gonna buy a plate and do it the right way. Sent my block to a hot tank as I do not like the result of thermal cleaning. My 400 was really, really, stuck. I had to cut 4 rods and melt a section of the top of one piston to take it apart.

    I had actually considered something similar. we're only trying to simulate the distortion in the cyls when the heads are bolted on. I'm not too sure that the B engine really needs plates. I do know that the 426 Hemi needs 'em. It's that top- inside bolt that is tricky and the way you torque them.
