I have a SA 670 on the shelf and the choke housing has an internal piston that uses a port in the Main body for a vacuum source. It is right below the port for the secondary diaphragm supply. If you dont have the choke housing with the piston internally someone may have swapped it for a manual...
Cool as heck got Smokey Yunick written all over it. I would make it fit on the 63 Belvedere Wagon W/ 2-4s. Where to find an air filter might be a chore.
Whatever you do stay away from the Cheap Ebay one size fits all kits. Muscle car solutions did a compare on YouTube. The Eddy kits aint cheap and dont really interchange between carb #s. Try doing it with a Dual quad setup. $$ adds up real quick.
Correct, the old school method is just that. I have a Snapon adaptor for PVs. Should hold the rated vac for at least 30 sec. Had one a week ago that the diaphram was going south. Was wet on the chamber side also.
First thing to check is float level. The gasket looks kind of funky, offset and looks like kind of an eyebrow on the bottom pic. Are the gaskets directional? I would not be happy with it.
First verify fuel pressure no more than 5 Lbs. Then check floats for height and drop. Just because its a new carb don't mean it is correct. If all good, on the primary start with # 3 just a rod change, Secondary side start with a 0.098 3 stages lean 12%. Get one of the tuning kits from Eddy. It...
Keep the Carb unless going Port FI. I assume Heads have no heat crossover or anything to warm the carb or intake. Ever seen guys warming up their cars at the drags Ya have to. Price we pay to play. I am sure a carb with a auto or manual choke is out there for your combo. Nice looking car by the...
I have the hot soak problem when temps get high around 100+. I have never seen a clear filter get totally full. That said the fuel we have is bad about boiling in the carb and lines = vapor lock. Be carefull about fuel line routing to keep it off hot spots and insulate it with some heat shield...
Try tightening up the secondary air valve, sounds like it may be opening to much to soon. That seems like alot of Carb for that 383. My 2x4 383 has 2 500 performers and I had to lean the secondarys from 95s to 77s really cleaned it up. I hear you on the cost tuning a 2x4. Try the air valve adj...
Dont know if the 4 grams will be an issue but for $10 what the heck give it a shot. My repop sender from Right stuff has a plastic float still dont read accurate. One day I will pull it and bend the arm a bit see if it helps.
Well I got all the parts to put this baby back to Eddy spec and it runs real good. Still might play with the primary side and go a bit leaner with some rods. Fuel pressure is @ 4.5 psi. Did some other work on it like fixing the Push Button 727 leak, the Sonnax pressure regulator valve really...
After doing more research I found Edelbrock has Specific carbs for a dual set up. They are an AVS style but it should not matter. They really lean out the secondary side from a 95 to a 77 jet and a leaner front rod from 65x52 to 65x57. Got the parts ordered and will set it up that way and go...
Pretty ratty looking now but we are on the way. 63 Belvedere. Along with the 383 it has a push button 727 and a 355 suregrip 8 3/4. Should be a fun car.
