Looks and sounds like a great idea. My six pack is a bear to set the idle mixture screws just like everyone elses. Do not want to change the bases. Do you foresee any issues by using stainless? Had problems with siezing stainless bolts in the past without using anti-sieze compound.

The car has so much power, that I can't honestly tell the difference on the street. Even with the Mickeys, the engine overpowers all traction. Here's a pic of mine last year. Sounds like about the same setup except for the heads. Ran great then and runs great now even after changing to exhaust manifolds from headers.
