Just a suggestion; if you are going to move the springs inboard and mini-tub, you might consider also moving the spring front mounts back a bit. This will center the wheel in the wheel well, allowing the max diameter tire. If yours is like mine was, the tire diameter limit was at the front edge...
I use the stock column shifter with the Cheetah RVB in my '65 Dart bracket car. I did file the detents so I "push/down" to second, "pull/down" to third. My '65 Coronet is a 4 speed.
Before mini tubbing my '65, I was able to run 9X29.5 Mickeys on a 7" wheel with 4 1/8" backspace. That was pretty well maxxed out with a stock wheelwell, suspension, and rear end. Now that it is mini tubbed, springs moved in, and the axle housing shortened, 14" section width tires are no problem...
