I totally get it. That's why I found an auto electrical shop that is going to go through my system and make sure everything is working as it should be. It'll prob cost me 5-7 hours of labour, including prewiring for the retrosound radio.
One of the issues I found was that the wires were in the wrong plugs on the engine wiring harness. The fusible link and violet wire had to be switched. It caused the main power wire on the dash harness to melt back about an inch! I also didn't have the alternator ground properly.
I did contact them and made a post re: their response....
Not trying to drag anyone through the mud, however I want to highlight the issues I found with the product I purchased.
I just went through and compared my old harnesses to the new ones. All wires look to be in the correct spots.
I’ll have to get up under the dash and check the dash side.
Funnily enough, before the issue, I had Temp gauge working but not fuel or alternator. Now I have fuel and alternator but...
I started another thread about it but the culprit was the engine wiring harness. The low beam wire (violet) and fusible link were in the opposite positions. This caused the power wire on the dash side to connect to the violet wire on the engine dude. The dash side power wire melted/burned back...
I just emailed him and told him the issue along with pics. He responded within 30 minutes or so and said it shouldn’t have started or melted the violet wire. At any rate, he said to send the harness back and he’ll fix it. I just asked him to send me a new fusible link since I already fixed it.
The weird thing is the car ran, I took it for a test drive…had all exterior power, lights, wipers etc but no interior lights, dash etc. I guess the wire was slowly melting?
As an add-on to my other thread re:fusible link burnt, I have traced the problem to my new engine harness from Evans Wiring. After I sorted everything out in the engine compartment, I went under the dash and immediately saw that the power wire was melted at the bulkhead. I pulled the bulkhead...
UPDATE!
I had the alternator and voltage regulator tested by a local guy who specializes in them. The alternator and VR we’re fine. He then set my alternator up for single field and bench tested it. It didn’t quite live up to the 95 amp rating by PowerMaster lol He got to 90 amps with the...
So, I ordered a new fusible link from Classic, moved the field wire back to the original field it was on when it was running fine. As soon as I connected the positive battery terminal, the new fusible link immediately burnt. Now I'm confused.....
