Interesting. When I turn the key to "on", my voltmeter shows 11v on the single wire side and around 6v on the side with the blue and brown wires. That led me to believe power was coming from the single wire then going to the blue and brown. Of course, that's with the key on, not while starting...

You can pretty safely paint lacquer over urethane but painting urethane over lacquer will not work. Without knowing what was used to black out the engine compartment (and a good likelihood it was cheap rattle can lacquer) I would be afraid to paint over it. I would sand as much of it off as...

You prep it the same as the body. If they did a decent job and their paint is sticking then just scuff it seal it and shoot it, but if they painted it black, that should tell you everything on what to do next

DP's can give nice fuel mileage on the highway/autobahn. In town however, they do not pull good mpg numbers. Got to have a steady foot though no matter and they ain't too bad in town if you anticipate traffic stops etc. And wouldn't a high volume high pressure oil pump help in this situation...
