    I have always installed both on the inside of the fender well. I believe that's the way they were on the all original 70 V code RR, but that was over 20 years ago. Funny how I remember crap like this and can't tell you all I did yesterday.

    Find the reproduction M&H Front Light harness from Year One, (I can help you locate if theyre outta stock I once worked with M&H), and you'll be complete! Sounds like a dead short to ground.

    Outside drivers side, passenger side has been know to be on either side. My '66 is inside, as well as '69 and '70.

    Just replace the Dash & engine harnesses with M&H and leave everything 100% OEM. Problem solved.
