The ch28 with 600's is easy and reliable. Has a nice broad torque range. As for pistons; what works well with iron heads probably won't work well with aluminum heads and vice-versa. Pick one or the other but don't mix and match. I like Icon 836 for aluminum heads and kb184 for open chamber iron...

I’m assuming what I’m using is one piece of a 2-piece mount (missing the rear piece). I would not think adding the rear piece would affect the pulley alignment and I don’t see how the AC itself could get in the way.

If the cable is disconnected, can't you rotate it to access each spring tab ? Your's dont look very rusted, so spray it with lube, vice grips on outer sheath end, depress the tabs. Hammer tap and drift pin each tab...
