Took old 4 speed out and tried for hours to get replacement one in, was always 25mm ( 1") gap between housing and 4 speed casing. Finally took it out and used a ruler only to find the input shaft was 25mm longer on replacement one. Looks like the gearbox that came out has had its shaft...

My Carter carby is real dirty, what is the best way to get it clean and tidy ? Carby clean and small brush ? Thoughts please. Thanks, Tony

I do not know anything about 4 speeds but this thrust bearing does not look good. Should the sharp edge be sticking up on the inside of the bearing face ? Buy a new one ? where is the best place to buy from ?
