I have to replace the mechanical fuel pump on a 360. Engine is mild - .509 hyd roller, stock compression, 750 carb, headers. The choices seem to be several brands around $20 and several brands around $120. I'm not racing it around, but I want reliability. Do I need to throw $120 at it, or...
This is the best place I could find to mount the fuel pump. It's a little more than 1/2 inch from the exhaust pipe behind the muffler. I was thinking about a heat shield. Any opinions? Am I gonna hear the fuel up?
This may be a lame question.. But anyone care to comment on how to change the fill tube on 68-80 non charger b-body? I just bought a new gas tank and have to use the old tube. Sorry if its simple, but I just took a quick look at it and wasn't sure how to do it. I'm stuck at work overnight...
Can anyone recommend a distributer for a 440 6 pack motor on a 70 coronet r/t?? The problem I'm having is I need it to fit under the air cleaner. MSD has the PRo billet model that is too big and the ready to run model that is $380. I have the 6al msd box so I don't need the ready to run...
Any thoughts on pilot bushing vs bearing. Or on case I'm not wording it correctly what would you guys recommend a solid pilot bearing or one with needle bearings??? Pros and cons etc.
Recently had my rotating assembly balanced but now I'm changing pistons. The new pistons are 12 grams lighter than the old ones. What effect if any will this have?
Super budget build in the works. Do I need to use a windage tray, or is that just a performance addition?
Also I have a set of rings that with about 5 miles on them. long story but can I use them in another block? assuming the gap tolerances check out.
Fresh build big block with lunati Hydraulic Rollers, the #8 cyllinder exhust lifter didnt pump up all the way. Anyone have any idea why? is it more likely a factory defect or an oiling problem? Any way to tell by taking the lifter apart?
Got a dead lifter, so 6 pack aluminum intake manifold has to come off, but it's not cooperating. I used "the Right Stuff" when I put it on about 6 months ago. I recently tried to pry it off with a large prybar, but it wouldn't budge. Any suggestions?
Anyone out ther had any luck sealing a cracked block. I was told to try Moroso Ceramic engine sealant. My hopes are not too high, but I'll try it before I tear it down.
There's a 1/4" crack below the motor mount lobe that is weeping antifreeze about a drop every 2 seconds.
About a year ago I decided I wanted a little more power in my coronet so I found a used motor with aluminum heads and solid mechanical cam for $2500. Turned out to be a mistake.
Something doesn't look right here. Is this how the nut and washer sit on the fork rod? The cut end of the nut looks wierd sitting up against the washer.
Major F-up. Just finished building 500 stroker for my 1970 Coronet R/T and I cracked the passanger side rear mounting lobe on the block. I had the crack welded, but I don't trust it and would like any suggestions on alternate mounting points and any pics would be great. I dont want a mounting...
I'm posting this for a friend:
He's got a 68 GTX 727 auto with a low miles rebuild 440.
It has a very mild cam and a 6 pack. Compression is around 190 per cyllinder if I remember correctly. Cant recall leakdown test #s but the only issue was the crank case. He did break the motor in...
