Hi, I bought a new Comp cam and when I opened the box to take a peek the lobes have kind of shiny wear patterns almost like it has been used. Is this normal from the grinding process? All the pictures on Comp Cams website show nice black lobes. It's been some time since I bought a new camshaft...
Hi, so in my research about compression ratios I have discovered all about Dynamic compression and cranking PSI. I am reading that for pump gas your dynamic compression should be around 8 to 1 and 165 psi cranking pressure for an iron headed big block. Does this sound right?
The camshaft I want...
Hi, can I use steel shim gaskets for aluminum heads? Some posts say yes, some say no. I have a 440 with aluminum heads and to get 10.1 compression I calculated a .020 head gasket. Can anyone recommend a gasket I should use.
Thank you.
Hi, I am putting together a mild street driven 440 and will use a set of 915 heads. The compression will be around 9.5, hp exhaust manifolds, Edelbrock RPM intake, 750 Edelbrock carb, Comp XE268 cam 224/230 dur 4.77/4.80 lift, 727 with 2000 stall, 3.23 rear gears in a 1964 Dodge Polara. Car will...
Hi, I am looking to buy a 11inch 2500 stall converter for my 1965 Coronet 440 build. Which converter company is recommended? Hughes, B&M, TCI, Summit have the B&M Tork Master for a sale price at the moment. Engine is a mild build with street duties only. An off the shelf converter is probably...

Hi, I'm looking at buying a set of used RPM heads, they look like they are barely used but I'm wondering how to tell if they have been machined. They are in another state so I cant cc them, I was wondering if anyone knows what the thickness they should be at where the bolt holes are?
Thanks
Leigh
Hi everyone,
I am trying to figure out which Edelbrock head to choose. My car is a 72 Roadrunner with 440, 727 and 3.9 rear gears. I am using the revised purple shaft 509 cam, Edelbrock RPM inlet, Holley performance 750 vac carb and with headers and 3in exhaust. I know there are better cams out...
I'm going to look at a set of 902 heads tomorrow, is there a way to tell if the heads have been milled? Can I measure the thickness or do I have to CC them?
Thank you

Hi, can I get opinions on the Mopar Performance P3690730AB Deep Transmission Pan, the stamped steel one. My car is pretty low so I can't use a really deep pan. Anyone know how much extra fluid these hold? I have been searching on the net but can't find the answer. I plan to use one of these and...
Hi everyone, can I use a Hemi factory style oil pan on a 440 in any B Body without any thing fouling it? And can I use a stock style oil pick up or do I need a buy one to suit?
Thanks
Leigh
Hi,
I have a 67 Coronet with 440, 727, 3.23 rear gears and 27 inch tall tyres. The motor is pretty much stock with headers, 750 holley and RPM intake. Cam is Comp cams XE268H, dur 268/280, Lift 477/480.
I'm thinking of using 2000 rpm stall.
Any suggestions.
Thank you
Leigh
Hi, I have a 1967 440. I need to buy new lifters and some websites say I need to use the earlier style lifter or Hemi lifter. They show two different lifter seat height. I guess this is measured from the top of lifter to where the pushrod seats. I need to know so I can find out what lifters I...

HI,
Can anyone give advice on a replacement 440 Magnum Cam? I am thinking Comp Cams EX268, I would prefer to use the stock convertor. I have a very tired 67 R/T and a low budget so if I can reuse the stock convertor I will. Once I strip everything down and I discover I need a new convertor...
