    4 speed to auto shifter mounting

    All the 68-70 4 speed cars have a welded metal piece with an oval opening for the shift lever. Since my car will be auto how did others mount their shifter? on top of the oval hole or somewhere different? Any other pictures/ideas to share? Tom
