Found this transmission in a buddys barn the other day. Is it just a big block trans. or can't that be known from this flimsy information? I do know it came out of a 3/4 ton Dodge pick up. Will it bolt up to a 383?
I apologize up front for my ignorance after a lifetime of muscle cars, (68 years old), but how does one install restrictor in a carb? It's an Eddelbrock 1405 manual choke if that matters. Thanks, Dave
I have an Eddelbrock 1405 600CFM carb. on my warmed up 318. It's running way too rich, black soot in the exhaust pipes, smelly in cab, so I got a Eddy calibration kit #1479 and can't figure out the combinations for the springs, rods etc. I thought I would start with the leanest combo for a few...
Was changing the main jets in my Eddy. 1405 carb. today and neglected to notice which of the 3 holes the accelerator pump linkage went in. Is it a big deal? Why the 3 holes? Thanks, Dave
Under the rubber mount on top of the cross member bracket there is a plate with a gasket under it and it is leaking. Hope somebody know what I'm referring to. I cannot seem to find reference to it on searches I've made. Anyone know where I would be able to find such a gasket? Going to try to...
Anyone got any BB headers for sale for a display 383? Don't have to be functional, can be bent or have some holes in them. I just want to paint 'em up and put them on my display motor. The motor will be rebuilt with new headers sometime in the future.
just finished puttin the cam bearings in my 68 383. question is, should i be able to turn the cam by hand? with one of the head bolts screwed in the end of the cam it turns very easily with wrench, but cant quite turn it by hand. it went in the tunnel really nicely, all the oil holes are lined up.
Would it be possible to fit the bearings in a SB or BB by running an engine hone through them to make them fit on the cam before intalling them in the cam tunnel? When they fit then install them?
Can anybody please post a pix of where the wire looms go on a 68 383? Both sides if possible. My car is not #s but I would like to come as I can on the engine. Thanks, Dave
Looking for any and all wire looms that might have been on a 1968 RR 383 four barrel. Particularly the one that bolts to the intake man. at the end of the valley pan gasket. Anybody make a repop. Been lookin but cant find.
Ive heard an awful lot of bad stuff about Mopar SB cam bearings not fitting or having to be "fit". I need to put them in my 318 but am thinking it may be a straight forward job. Can anyone enlighten me on this problem.:thinker:
Hey guys, Cant contain my excitement. I picked up a RR 383 engine today for the cost of a 3 month old Brahman Bull. The manifolds are on it and got them all loose, got the intake loose. No carb. Oil pan is there. Motor turns over. Im really flyin hi right now..Hope to get it going soon and put...
Can someone identify this pump, there is a PN on it 2129623-6 or 8. Its off my 67 Coronet, but I think the engine is a 73. I had it off because it leaked all the fluid out. I cleaned it all up on the outside and filled it with fluid and propped it up on the bench, but I cannot seem to find where...
I just bought a Champion radiator from "The Cooling Guys", looks like a nice buy, but it is offset(the middle is not in line with the center of the fan). I want to put one of those 3" universal fan shrouds but dont see a way to do it because of the offset rad. Any ideas?
Does anyone have an idea about substituting the lower steering column bearing (or where I can find one) on my 67 Dodge Coronet, power steering. I have been haunting the parts houses and internet for two weeks and keep coming up empty. Anybody know any possible solutions for my problem (bearing...
