    Fuel pump push rod troubles

    I just got my 440 rebuilt and I couldn't get my fuel pump push rod in. I cleaned out the hole with a pipe cleaner brush and sanded the push rod a bit to get it in.     I have a 1969 coronet with a 3 speed wiper motor. The motor gets hot to the touch when it has power to it. The grounding strap is grounded. It doesn't work obviously. I've changed the ballast resistor. Any ideas?
