‘67 console lid attachment

So a few weeks ago I asked about the type of nuts that attached the console lid to the hinge. I was able to purchase the correct nuts but they don’t seem to tighten very well. As a result the lid doesn’t seem to fit correctly.
Any tricks to this? I can push down on the lid when it is closed and the lid “wobbles” when open. The nuts just don’t tighten enough.

They're likely bottomed out on the acorn nuts. Try putting washers below the nuts
 
I had the same trouble as you. I tossed those elcheapo thread cutting nuts and replaced them with 10-24 free spin washer nuts. You can buy the threaded 10-24 chrome plated acorn nuts if you want. I had these so used them instead. Mine have stayed put since 2016.
