‘71 Charger Headlight Retainers, Paint Them?

I was never in the military, and I respect those who served our country or others. There is the saying... "If it moves, salute it; if it doesn't move, paint it!"

Any reason I would not want to paint these black before I clean them up and put them back in?

The car is customized, so not for restoration purity.

They are galvanized originally. I would clean them up and paint them. Black works.
