.006 of lift

To measure .006 of lift that is on the cam card. Is it done from the lowest point of the cam, rotate crank, look for rise of .006 and then count the degrees you are from tdc or do you start at tdc move .006 then take you degr reading from that point to tdc.
 
".006" measurement is when the tappet has lifted .006" off the heel of the lobe, record the degrees, should be before BTDC, rotate the crank until .006" before the tappet rest on the heel, record degrees, and the total would be duration a .006".
 
Use the .050 measurement. .006 is for advertising and really doesn't help in tuning or setting up a cam....plus it's a more accurate way to measure it.
