Does anyone know what 1 of 99 1967 GTX's that were built at Lynch Rd. in Detroit means?

Is it the first 99 built or a run of 99 at that plant?

Where do they fall in the order of manufacture?

When someone reports that a car is "one of 99 built" I take it to mean that only 99 were built and it is one of them.
If a car is presented to be "number 1" of 99 built that tells a different story.

I also see another question here. If the plant made cars other than GTX's--were they mixed up on the line??
Maybe that is something that can be answered by another. Stay tuned--

Low production amounts usually means it was ordered expensive, ugly, or dumb.

What needs to be added on this topic --is that low production numbers is not a dollar sign about value.
The collector market has moved many very low production cars to scrap.

1 of is the most over used terms. What does it mean 1 of 30 with a pink interior or one of one with some stupid option.

Some, approximate, production numbers are know. When one says "1 of X built" it means that car is one of, approximately, 99 built for that year. As a exact production numbers are not known, it's a way to convey relative production numbers.

Production numbers by plant are not known, except for models produced at only one plant, so if a specific plant is mentioned and the car was built at multiple plants, then that person or source knows of at least that many cars from that plant.

For example, 69 Road Runner hard tops were produced at three plants; Lynch Road, St. Louis and LA. If I say the car is one of 1,000, it means the car is one of 1,000 similarly equipped cars spread out across the three plants. If I say it is one of 450 produced at the Lynch Road plant, it means I have data on at least 450 cars from that plant. As production numbers by plant are not known, it does not mean there were only 450 cars made at that plant.

For cars that saw a full model year run, the cars were spread out through the production year. Some package cars (Daytonas, Superbirds, AARs, etc) were only built during a certain time frame. So that 1,000 cars mentioned above could have been built over a 12 month period.

Is the OP saying only 99 67 GTXs were built at Lynch road, or is he saying there is an option combo that makes the car 1 of 99 built that way?

If you include a plant in your statement, as the OP did, then you are talking about a reference to someone's individual data base. GG's reports often include a reference to a plant. That only means he has that many cars from that plant on file. That number will change as more cars are added.

If that particular model was built at more than one plant, the info is, somewhat, interesting but mostly meaningless.

I'm on the same page as YY1. It sounds like OP is stating there are only a few cars made at that plant or something.

What plant(s) did 67 GTXs come out of?

OP - context please? What are you look at?

Here's an expample of the 'normal' 1 of reference.

"One of 63 Hemi..." - http://www.legendarymotorcar.com/inventory/1967-plymouth-gtx-1609.aspx
In 10/2016 Hemmings P.515 and on internet, there is listed a GTX as 1 of 99. I have never heard of that being said before.
I checked the numbers, it is correct as being a GTX. I too have a "1" Lynch Rd. GTX. ????

67 GTX hard tops were built at Lynch Road, St. Louis and LA. Convertibles were built at St. Louis. Hemi cars were built at LR and STL.
