1959 Plymouth diesel engine?

I remember in the late 60s, early 70s my dad worked at the local Dodge,Chrysler,Plymouth,International, and International Harvester dealer. One day while I was there seeing dad a man came in with a Dodge pickup with a Perkins in it. I believe it had the same emblem on it that that Plymouth had. Only one I ever saw.

Although several Perkins four cylinder diesel powered Plymouths were built in the late 1950's (about 100 cars for the 1956 Belvedere, to start), most of them were not sold over here. They were more popular in Europe, particularly Belgium, where they were used as economical taxis. It was about a $750 option, which included a second battery under the hood. During the 1960s, Perkins Diesel Valiants were also constructed.

These were all conversions, not factory installed engines.

Massey-Ferguson tractors used Perkins diesel engines. I think the engines were made in England?
