LOL I’m laughing out loud at these comments. His price is pretty good. I’ve owned one of these cars for 15 years. All the unique hardware that is present on this engine would take a long time to find. Those exhaust manifolds are 1/3 rd of the money right there.
And it’s a one stop shop for someone with a car minus the correct engine. Rarely seen complete like this.

don’t add any performance? They add torque, and it’s pretty amazing how the car can pass on a 2 lane hiway. It’s not for top end. It’s all about 2800 RPM. Read more here.

Maybe Grand-ma-ma & the sign she's holding are included with the engine?

Engine is worth $5-7 hundred at the most. That intake and carburetors setup is worth about $3500 on a good day to the right person. My 2 cents.

Imagine what changing plugs was like for a local garage back when it was a year or so old.

I don't follow the prices on that stuff close enough

I was going to say for someone that needs that combo
all of the stuff (for the most part) is all there
(something about it's missing the heat riser shields for the heads/intake)

yeah the 383 isn't worth much
but that long-ram/sonic-ram intake & carbs, air-cleaners, linkage etc.
albeit not for power, more for torque (or looks)
(they are a PITA too)
has the value in that package
especially for someone that needs it
& doesn't have any of it
along with a date coded engine too

if you were to source it out, 1 part at a time
you'd have a small fortune in it
let alone shipping costs & time to find all of it

$6,400 isn't way too much
it's just too much in my opinion
(asking price not sold price, unless I missed something)
but;
it's possibly/probably worth every dime
for someone in the need for an engine/intake
or date coded set-up/deal like that

my stepdad Bob had one in a 60 Dart/Phoenix IIRC
sounded really cool when he stomped on it
I was like 8 y/o too

Exhaust pipes cut off with a torch, had to come out of a junk yard

If you guys haven’t dealt in the world of these ram engines then you don’t understand what you don’t know. That’s not a put down.

the block with the correct stampings is impossible to find, and it makes a real car right again. So it’s worth much more than a normal 383. Go try to find any 1960 383 B block for sale and tell me how much luck you have.

The exhaust manifolds are $2000. Same as a 413 in a 300. Have you ever seen any for sale?

What’s that dual point distributor worth? Ever try to find a torque converter for a cast iron torqueflight? You got one here. And all the hardware and correct bolts to hold it together. Or the same as the newer stuff.

everyone saved the intake manifolds, but where is all the pieces to make it function?

And when a guy couldn’t make a ram car run they put a single carb on it and kept driving and nobody knew the exhaust manifolds were anything special when it was junked out later on.

The missing block off plates are made reproduction so not a deal breaker.

the heads don’t have bolt holes in the ends. 1960 and older only. You see it on the front of the passenger side head. This will stick out like a sore thumb if your 1960 has bolt holes in the ends of the heads. Will be right out in the open with no alternator to cover it up.

I can't recall right now; could that be a tall deck 383? Couldn't make it out from the photos.
