Ok, The tach in my car works ,,,although I feel it NOT accurate by any means

I have found board to convert it to electronic but they all say 1967 and later , ? Why ?

Is there a kit to convert it to a clock instead as I really have need for a tach as I do not race or really beat on the car ( at least not to hard )

66 has a separate sending unit, 67 is internal.

Yes 66 tach is 3 wires With a sending unit, and A 67 tach is 4 wires. Different inside.

if you want a clock just buy one, they only came in 66-67 Chargers.

Bill, if you unscrew the forward console plate and look under it, you should see a tuna can size tin housing that screws to the console mount directly under the tach. If so, that’s the correct 66 sender unit that drives the tach. You can get a circuit board that upgrades it. If the sender unit is not there and the tach connects directly to the console wire harness and 4 wires then it’s a 67 or later tach and you can replace the circuit board in it with an upgraded one.

Ok, I vaguely remember reading years ago the 66 was unique.
I did a quick search and I did find updated circuit boards but all listed as 67 and later so figured something was different for the 66

When the car goes into hibernation sometime around June as temps rise to tripple digits I will open the console up and ck into it further

Ok, curiosity got the best of me.

Pulled the console top loose. sure enough 4 wires so I guess its a 67 tach unit
