Put water pressure to it see if it leaks.
Close it and see if it shuts off water flow thru the valve

I tested it today. No leaks and seems to work good. Shuts completely. I can't find any testing info in the 66 FSM on this. I tested the thermal coupling with both heat and cold and it does move the plunger.
