I just installed all new wires from year one and the ignition works but it wont engage the starter motor from the key, it will turn over from the relay tho. Any thoughts?
Trans neutral safety switch? if not, wiring from relay to switch, ck relay ground, can't remember that. one wire on relay goes to trans for start, must be grounded, think its small brown wire, get schematic in forum. or ground wire at trans, middle one.
I was going to mention again the bulk head connections that YY1 mentioned but if you've checked all connections, I know you said the ignition switch is new but that could cause this, you may also try another relay switch in it, i see where you said jumping it it will work but there is a possibility that juice going out ok, but the other side could be a problem in it, don't ya just love the electrical gremlins!! If it isint the relay then i would think it lies from ignition switch to the relay, If you have a 12 volt tester light, id put it on your connections on the relay and have someone turn the key to crank position and see if theres juice getting to the relay, couple things to check, Good luck.
