1967 Dodge Coroner Trunk Lid

I have a 1967 Dodge Coronet 440 convertible and I need to replace a trunk lid hinge. How do I relieve the tension on the torque rods that hold the lid open, so I car replace the hinge?

Unhook the end of each torsion bar from the hole/slot (There are 3 holes each side to choose from) and they come right out.
Need vise grips, probably.
There will an a S hook or two holding the bars together.
Don't lose them or the bars will rattle after reinstallation.
