Hey now, I have been looking for one of these for a while, you aren't supposed to be smarter then me and start a thread...

btw, i don't care on color either, ill paint one. But obviously he gets first dibs

I'm wondering if a floor shift manual steering column will work from a 68 or 69 also.

I hope so, because I'm planning to put a 69 floor shift manual column into my 67 belvedere. I took the under dash mount from my 67 and put it on the 69 column and the firewall mount was identical between the two. Putting them side by side, I couldn't tell any differences besides the obvious (one being a PS, column shift and the other MS, floor shift).

Just bringing it up because it may open your search field to a lot more available years.

Well I think in 68 they put the key in the column and I like having it in my dash. So I am going to stick with my 67 column. I personally have a manual steering 3 speed on the tree column and just pulled the shift handle off for now. At least it doesn't have the goofy auto shift position stuff on it.

But thank you.

I found one once about an hour away for $75 which I passed up....I still hate myself for not just getting in the truck and going to pick it up.

Key in the column started in 70. 68 and 69 were still in the dash. The wiring harness was even the same, and everything bolted up the same between the two including the wiring harness cover on the bottom, the firewall mount and the under dash mount.

Another thing I found during the column restoration process is that rustoleum has a textured paint for plastic. I painted my column black, and the texture and the sheen are nearly identical to the factory paint. I can't vouch for any other colors they have, but black was spot on.

One difference is the lower column plastic bearing is different - 67 to 8 and 9. And the 67 bearing plastic is now being repopped.

I have black interior but if you've got a column I can paint it if the price is right. 68 and 69 will interchange, but there are some slight cosmetic differences, this isn't a high dollar car so I'm not too worried but I'd prefer the right one. That said I haven't been able to find a decent 68 or 69 manual column either.
