1968 Charger re-store

This is my '68 Charger 383 automatic floor shift. I'll post more pictures tomorrow.

Took the bumpers off, I'll need both front bumperttes.

Replacing the passenger door since it was off of a '69. I was able to trade the door for a trunk panel.

Need to fix the rust in the trunk. Ahh have the panel.

This is more fun than going to work.

I managed to remove the grill in one piece, the photo shows the back side of the grill. In this case the top piece of metal where the hood latch is mounted is welded to the vertical center support and to the bottom horizontal cross piece that holds the bracket for the vacuum head light actuator. The question should these three pieces be welded together?


The other photo is the mighty 383, how many liters is that? Who cares? Life should be measured in cubic inches.

68 Charger Restore

Rust in the trunk only, I'll be able to pick up the left trunk floor today, cut the rust out.

Lots of undercoating, that should make it interesting to weld.

Cut out the rusty section of the trunk, filled in the new section. Welding is quite difficult my old Miller does not like going so low to weld the thin sheet metal. The patch panel was off a little, if I pushed it towards the back seat to get the grooves to line up the up slope was way off. O well it will be under he mat n the trunk.

Broken piece of the mounting tab of the grill, any idea if and how this can be fixed.

Little advice so you're not spinning your wheels and throwing money away into the wind...STOP! Get the entire car Media Blasted right now before any more cutting and welding in patch panels here and there. If you want to know the reasoning for this, read my thread called Media Blasting. You're early in your process, so, I'd not be a good B Body guy if I didn't gently 'warn' you. Cheers! Nice car!

In this case the only rust is in the trunk, bad trunk lid gasket.

Any ideas on fixing the grill plastic?
