FOR SALE 1968 Dodge charger 4spd crossmember, will fit other b-bodies

1971 or 72 B-body 4 speed transmission crossmember

Here is a grit blasted and freshly painted 4 speed crossmember out of a 1971 or 72 b-body, its ready to install. Thanks guys for helping out with the identity of this item, it was fitted to my 68 charger when I got it.. I want $60 plus shipping for it, cheers.

That doesn't look like a 4 speed cross member for a 68 B-Body. It appears to use a spool type mount. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

If you look at the body mounts, the four bolt holes, you will see the outer ears are longer than your 74 unit. Mine came out of a 1968 4spd charger i scrapped.

You are all wrong, the spools have been around since 1965 in different body styles, when you go to rockauto as an example and look up the dodge charger with a four speed it shows the spool as the replacement part. the biscuit mount style is for auto's

rock auto couldn't even send me the correct throttle cable for my charger.

maybe these guys are selling the wrong mount for the 66-72 4 speed transmissions with 100% positive feedback

not trying to start an argument, I just don't want to see someone get the wrong part.




the cross members are different, you can see the 68 manual cross member on the bottom and the automatic cross member on the top...clearly different.

well if it isnt b-body 68 to 70 and Im assuming it cant be 70 to 74 cos i know that ebody crossmembers are the same as b-body in those years(pretty sure) and the locating bolt holes are closer together just like the 74 up b-body crossmember already pictured. if we exclude 68 and newer b-bodies, what is it?

I just pulled this one out of my shed . this belongs to a 74 dodge charger. maybe it will help. in 73 , all cars across the line went to a spool mount set-up.
the holes for the mount to the car are 3 1/2 inches apart (center to center) the bracket to spool mount bolt hole is right about 2 3/8 out on the ears ( to center) im pretty sure the mounting holes to the body probably varied from A, B , C body, i think B & E shared the same mount, but im not positive. i do see that your body mount ears are longer, so that has me a little confused. maybe they went to a spool trans mount earlier than 73, like maybe 71 or 72. i don't recall what my earlier chargers used. i will see what i can find.

dang, good work , I searched ebay and came up empty. I think you found the match. apparently I was wrong about the 73 and up only using a spool mount. they must have started that in 71 , 2 years before the engine mounts. its been a while since I had any 71-2 B bodies.
glad we(you) figured it out , I learned something today that I must have forgotten LOL
