Good morning Guy's,
I don't post much but do very much enjoy reading this forum and all the knowledge on it.

I own a 1968 RT Charger with a build date of May 4th. I post the date because I understand the ashtray design did change in '68 and I believe my car has the early style. Couple of questions; 1st, the ashtray door pad is a bit distorted, and I can't find a replacement in the Mopar Parts and Accessories catalog. Is there another place to source parts for this car? 2nd, the Vin decoder shows the car came with F70x14 Steel Belted Red Lines but not the actual wheel option. Would this have only been on the actual build sheet (that I do not have) or am I missing something on the tag?

Thanks in advance, Steve

The tires, but not the wheels, are listed on the tag.

The early ash tray was padded and slid down. The later ones were metal and tilted open. As far as I know, no one makes a replacement. You'll have to eith live with it or be on the hunt for a nice one.

Steel belted radial tires were not available in 1968. They're bias ply.

Thanks for the reply and insight, I may see if I can repair mine somewhat. As for the tires, was aware that the tires were bias and not radial but trying to figure out what wheels the car would have come with. It has 15" magnums, and they look cool, however I absolutely know that's not correct. :)

15" wheels are fine & that's what I have on mine. The car looks nice, how about some more pictures?

The car has wide 15' wheels that look great with the mounted 295 50'15's and 245 60 15's but I was thinking I'd get a set that were original for it as well for shows. Before I spend the money, I was trying to figure out what the car came with. My father had a 68 RT new back in the day and it had the full hub caps. If there's no way to prove what it came with then I'd for surely purchase the magnums. The tuff choice would be 15/7's or 14/7's. I also need a wheel for the trunk. Did I read somewhere that a space-saver type wheel was an option for the spare?

Your car looks nice as it sits, I would keep the tire/wheel combo that is on it now if it was mine.
