I have a correct number Carter AVS for my 1969 440 automatic with air, 4640S. I purchased it from a company called Corvette Supply out of Justice, Illinois maybe 25 years ago and it was advertised as rebuilt and ready to go and it was for a Mopar. It has been sitting on the shelf in the box since then. Would it be wise to have the carb gone through again because it has been sitting so long? I would like to install it. The car now runs fine with a 4429S (1968 440 automatic no air) that I got from Pep Boys with a carb exchange probably 30 years ago. I purchased the car my father in 1974, he bought it new. Thanks for your help. Tim

I would bolt it on and try it. Takes 2 seconds. After it has run for a bit give the top a snug up

Charger looks Great!

I would take the top off the 4640 and make sure the screws are snug and the needle are tight where they screw into the top. Check float level also. Then, put it an and see what it does. They don't really go bad from sitting unused.

The accelerator pump plunger may or may not work, you will find out.

I wondered the same thing when I put the NOS 4640 on my car. I figured why not, just put it on and give it a whirl… works just fine.
