Question

I have 69 convertible road runner.
Interior color is white. Its actually like an off white. Herbs parts sell the correct color.

On my doors at top and bottom of the door. Its painted white as well. This white area is much brighter white then the vinyl white paint for seats and panels.

Is this correct? or did prior owner or body shop over the years just paint it a brighter white.

Dont know if they are supposed to match exactly.

I don’t know a lot about 68 and newer but usually the interior metal paint color is shown on the trim tag on earlier years 66/67. I believe (not sure if necessarily always true) that except for dash and steering columns, the interior metal paint colors were the same offerings/codes used for exterior paint colors. But I see a lot of cars where the interior metal paint is not real glossy. So I’m not sure if they may have used some flattener in it or unpolished lacquer, or they have just been incorrectly repainted.

I had a 69 satellite convertible with white interior. There is a difference in the shade on the painted metal and the vinyl seat shade. I can’t remember if the plastic rear panels were the same as the painted metal but I think they were.

I was always under the impression that the bottoms of the doors got painted in whichever exterior color matched the interior color the closest. My '68 Charger with green interior would have been painted GG1 green on the door bottoms because that's what matches the closest to the interior. I'm not sure if this is true or not but it's what I've heard.

If you have a fender tag, you can find the "upper door frame" paint code there. It can be found on the second row from the bottom, usually, the 4th code from the left. If your car is/was originally white, it's likely coded W1 or EW1 - which is an exterior paint color. So, it's likely the vinyl and plastic parts were/are not the exact same shade.

I did an internet search and found this picture from Hot Rod magazine. It looks like the door panels, arm rests and seats are a creamier white than the upper door panel white.
