Hey guys,

I bought a new Hurst Comp plus 4 speed shifter kit for my B Body with a console. Shifter works great except that the supplied shifter handle in 1st and 3 rd hits the dash ( comes too far forward). When I compare it to the stock shifter handle, the new one does not bend back as aggressively. Anyone else run into this problem? Any easy solutions? I called Hurst and they were no help. I was told that the shifter handle supplied is the only and correct one for my car.

I could use the original but it's the early one the slips into the shifter and held in place with shims. I would prefer not to drill holes in the original shifter handle if I can avoid it.

You could take the gear selector out of the old shifter and put it in the new one
and use the original handle. I know who wants to take apart a new shifter but it may work.

Heat with a torch, bend as needed, have it re-chromed.
