Just got back my roof rail moldings from the power coater and even bought new clips and it has been a fiasco. I am trying to do this as a one man job but I am thinking the only was is for a second set of hands. Does any one have tips on how to install with one person? Thanks as always.

Regards

That is correct. It uses 6 clips and one screw located in the front. I cannot seem to get the clips in without them deforming and when i did the weather seal was not on the inside. It has been a mess ever since and I even put a couple of scratches on this newly painted part.

Have you got the clips in the right way?

I do, How much force should there be to get them to snap in? I used a mallet and I thought they were moored in but then they would pop loose while try to get the front screw in. Tried 5 times to get this in.

Are you certain you have the clips in the correct way?

I am assuming that it is just the clips that are now deformed. I have ordered new ones and will try again. Thanks for your time. Regards

I fought with mine. What I found out is doing it this way made it easy. My clips were in the right spots. I took a little piece of 3M strip caulk and got it under each clip so they would stay in place. Then I put a piece of masking tape where each clip was. Got it in place and started the screw. I then used a soft mallet and hit where each piece of tape was and it went into place. No doubt a second set of eyes and hands would help.

Just try putting a bare clip onto the headliner edge.. it should go right on. Maybe your bent out "lock" tabs are "bent out" too far.

On mine the clips fit fine but if I did not get it in place they would slide. Thats why I put a spot of strip caulk to hold them in place. Maybe new clips would of worked better. They are on now for my life time.
