Attached are pictures of the front fender front chrome trim off my 69 GTX. I don't think the attachment hardware is correct just from looking on classic industries and other sites. Can somebody confirm if this is how this trim piece was attached at the factory? Or was it attached with small studs and cap nuts? Thanks

I've owned two unrestored '69 GTXs, one restored one, and my current '69 was originally owned by the local Plymouth dealer, and restored with NOS parts during his ownership. The attaching hardware you show was used by the factory, but the reproductions sold in later years used the studs and cap nuts.

When I disassembled my 69 it had a mix of fasteners. Some push in clips and some studs and capnuts. It's been so long I don't remember which was where. I believe the cap nuts were at the end of the door trim and a few on the fender trim which were accessible. Unaccessible positions were push in clips. It wasn't one type of clip in all positions.

my experience is they won't put a nut where you can't get to it, such as behind the mud shield, middle of the door, ect........ although, I never disassembled a 69 GTX....... think assembly line
