Hello, I'm new here. Thanks for adding me. I have a engine I think is a 1970 440 engine. It's kind of hard to read the stamping. Someone scratched over the pad with a screwdriver or something. I think it says, F 440 V BC AUTO 7 1 Is this correct? I was told the "V" stands for 6 pack engine? and if so what engine is this? Thanks.

The V means nothing as far as 6 pack engine. All the ‘70 440 blocks were the same. There should be a vin # stamped on the right side of the block, right above the oil pan near the motor mount.

The BC Auto is not factory either, probably a machine shop stamp from a rebuild.
