looking for pic from fuel pump to top fuel line. was there a fuel filter between the 2 lower lines? thanks Dave
All I can tell you is what I found done to my car. Previous owner had added a return line to a 383-4V car. They sent the return line into the tank where the shorter of the vent lines plugged in (the two coming off the driver side of the tank) and for some dumb reason smashed the nipple on the cap of the sending unit where it was supposed to go (on a 440/HEMI). The results were it runs fine but the added pressure and reducing the venting capacity by half caused fuel seepage at the vent junctions when tank was fullish. For now I use a vented cap and that solved the seepage issue. So you can run the rerun into any of those nipples but it may give you pressure issues in the tank when you have a lot of fuel. It’s a bit of afro engineering but runs fine otherwise. Please forgive me for asking, but I changed my fuel pump to theCarter M6903 mech fuel pump and also installed the lower and upper stainless steel braided Promax fuel lines. I have removed the vapor separator from the system, and plugged the return line that went from the separator to the gas tank.
The car came with aWIX metal can style fuel filter at the engine end of the hard line, but between the gas tank and the fuel pump. I replaced it with the same part number WIX filter. The Promax upper fuel line has a 40 micron inline reusable fuel filter that I kept in the system. It is between the fuel pump and the 3 carb lines.
So:
Is plugging the return line to the tank that used to come from the vapor separator OK?
Should I find a way to reincorporate the vapor separator?
Should I eliminate the filter between the fuel tank and the Carter pump? If yes, should I put it between the fuel pump and the 3 carb lines or is the 40 micron metal mesh Promax reusable fuel filter adequate, and eliminate the WIX filter altogether?
Thanks.
