1970 B Body Antenna Replacement Question

Need to replace my antenna base, how do you access this area? Has anyone done this lately? Looks really tight........Thank You

Remove your inner splash shield for starters. Removing the kick panel inside the car will give you access to where the antenna cable enters the car. On 70 B bodies the antenna mast unscrews from the base. An adjustable spanner wrench will loosen the nut and the base will drop thru the hole.

I am having a time getting it to tighten up, my old mast does not screw down all the way like it did with the old base?

Have you checked the threads on the new base?

I ended up finding an original base and replaced it. I did try it once it was out and it threaded normal, must have been seated wrong....Thanks
