1970 GTX 440+6 and Barracuda sitting in backyard since 1982

TX67RT,
You didn't get the car, but at least you befriended someone. He probably enjoyed your visits.

I have to ask, what color is your '67 R/T? Love those cars!

Yes, he seemed to enjoy visiting and talking cars. He had a lot of stories about his AAR over the years, and I had a few of my R/T as well. It wasn't a waste of time in that sense, only in the context that I didn't end up with the car.

My R/T is red with white vinyl top and white/black interior. I've had it for 33 years now, purchased from the original owner. It is an unrestored, original-paint survivor car. At least it was until last summer. I let it sit too long and the fuel and brakes went bad, so I pulled the rear end out for freshening the brakes and detailing. Now, I guess it's technically not a survivor anymore. I have another thread going that documents what I've been doing with the rear-half chassis restoration and detailing work.

I have never seen another red/white top 67 R/T. I don't think mine is the only one ever built by any means. But, I would have thought it would be a much more popular and common color combination. Whenever I have it out, it never fails to get tons of compliments, and I can only think that it would have been more popular on the order sheet back in the day. Oh well, at least it's unique...

Very nice car! Looks like you do good work too, the rear end assembly looks great.
If you get tired of the car let me know. I had a blue one years ago, still miss that car.

Thank you for your kind comments. I am striving to do the work the car deserves since I finally decided to pull it apart. I tried to restore everything with correct finishes, replace/rebuild what needed work, retain as many original components as possible, and replace all the assembly line markings along the way. Now, I almost hate to put the axle assembly back underneath where it won't be seen!

I won't be getting tired of this one. I've sold and/or passed on a number of Mopars over the years that I've since kicked myself for. This one is testament to the one that didn't get away. After 33 years, the R/T is a part of me.

I may add to the fleet, but won't be letting her go. I feel fortunate to be the custodian of this car, and plan to take care of her for many more years. Luckily, my son is a gearhead too, so I can rest easy knowing it will go to a good home when it outlives me.

I understand, I feel the same way about my '70 Charger R/T. I've owned it for 40 years now.

once saw a gt 500 shelby convertiable set for years tryed to by 50 times tree grew up threw it what a shame ended up junking it

BRING A NICE WAD OF CASH SHOW HOW SERIOUS YOU ARE ! A FEW HUNDRED CRISP GREEN BACKS WAVED INFRONT OF HIM JUST MIGHT DO THE TRICK!? IF NOT WAIT TIL HE DIES THEN A GUY WOULD GET HIS SHOT!!:headbang:/SIZE]

Sometimes, it's NOT about the money. Believe it or not. Personally, were a guy to try that with me, I'd knock the cash out of his hand and tell him to "piss off!". Until I am ready to sell something, it's not for sale. I've owned my Coronet since April 1980.

It has ALWAYS worked for me except this one time:
The year 2000
A 67 GTO 4-speed red convert.
She said YES YES YES at $2,500
I went with cash and she backed out.

4 years later she spent $40K on a too pricey resto
She still has the car today (14 years later)
