1970 RR hemi 4 speed Trans ?

I am checking out a 70 Hemi RR with a 4 speed, that does not have the original trans

Is there a way to tell if it is a Hemi trans from the outside?

If so what do i look for?

Only way I know of is to remove the inspection cover & look at the bearing retainer, the nose that the throw out bearing rides on will be noticeably larger than the regular 4-speed.

Should have "numbers" on the case you can decode. I'm not a big numbers man. AS above, I'm not sure how "you would know" if you have the small or large by looking. You MIGHT be able to see, if the cover is off, if it's an 18 spline clutch or not.

the 18 spline throwout bearing/housing is a lot larger than a 23 spline throwout bearing. that's prob. not much help unless you have the smaller one to compare. good luck
