1971-73 Steering column compatability?

Anyone know if you can convert an on the column shift into a floor shift?
I mean use the non shift castings to replace the shift column castings ??

Yes you can remove the shifter rod and get a collar from a floor shift column and bingo your set. Was a guy on here and Moparts with the collars for sale.
Also just so you know 71-4B had 3 different columns. 71/2,73 and 74 but I think the collars are the same for all.

Interchangable?

So the collars are interchangeable? I have the original column with collars but the unit is shot. I found a shift column locally but didn't know if I could swap them. (electronics, switches and all) :laughing1:

IIRC 71 takes a different switch than 72-4 so 71 might have a different collar, not sure.
