I have searched the internet and other sources and need some opinions. The standard disc brake swap calls for the A body spindles this I know. I have access to a 71 Charger w/disc that I can get the brake stuff for free. This will be going on a 69 Charger. Is the 71 setup a bad swap candidate ? I have read that most people stay away from them because of the 2 piece rotor assembly. I have found new uni-cast rotors for $75 a piece. If this setup is Ok can I swap these spindles side to side if needed to clear the front mount sway bar. Or should I continue to search for the A body spindles?
Any help would be appreciated.

From what have researched, the spindels can be swapped left to right, but shouldn't be because of the danger of suspension ripping up your break hoses. Im guessing you want the calipers mount towards the rear right?

Yes caliper to the rear to avoid any swaybar issues. I can cut off and weld on the brake line mount to avoid any binding. I plan on running new hardline anyway as its still all original. It seems the 70-72 B spindle was generally avoided due to the high cost and strength issues of those two piece rotors which uni-casts are available now. Or maybe there is some other taboo about them.

Thank You for your resonse.

I used 73 charger stuff have some problems 1) had to get calipers from a 72 challanger because of the was the charger calipers hit the control arms when turning,2)still looking for brake lines that will fit without kinking thinking about getting the stuff of a cordoba or a fifth ave with the 2 plate that bolt the calipers down. early 70 b-body are more problems than its worth. my 2cents

Here's 2 more: I would spend the extra and get what works. Bolt it on and be done with it. Thats the Brakes! :)

Thats good enough for me guys. I will pass on that brake setup and keep on the lookout for a donor 73-76 A body.

Thanks to all who replied

If you want to make the swap to the 73 and up setup, you can buy new spindles from several different suppliers on line. And you can even get dropped spindles if you plan on lowering the car. They cost more but are fresh and you can get them without waiting.
