1971 charger left front fender

The left front fender on my car was replaced by PO. It sits about 1/4 - 1/2 inch higher than the front of the door. The door alignment is spot on, so I do not want to fiddle with the door. I was curious if the was a difference with 71-74 fenders.

73-4 have a larger wheel opening than 71-2.
You can adjust the height of the fender. Open the door and look up under the top of the fender. There is a stud with shims between the fender and the cowl. Also down at the dogleg are slots. Those two points adjust the fender height.

When you open the door look where the fender brace bolts to the cowl above the top door hinge. Loosen the bolt going into the cowl,and the lower bolts at the rocker and drop the fender down to the spot you want it at,and retighten the bolts. Before doing this,check to see if there is any shims between the fender and the cowl brace above the hinge,if there is loosen the bolt going into the fender,and remove them and shim it to the desired height.

Hmm, when I disconnected the upper bolt, there did not appear to be any shims. The bolt assembly looks to have a curved (half dome) base where it it attached to the underside of fender. Would this mean that the inner fender is installed too high ?

Then it sounds like the front of the door needs to come up. Hows the gap between the bottom of the door and the rocker?

The door might be a whisker low, now that you mention it. The is a little drag on the Nader pin when opening and closing. I will take a closer look tomorrow.

Yup, you nailed it. The front of the door needs to come up. The lower door gap deminishes going forward and the rear gap decreases heading down. This would also explain the slight drag on the nader pin.

Cool. You can pull the splash shield at the rear of the fender to access the hinges.

Ok, I did adjust the door. Easy peasy...looks good now. I also had forgotten to put the nut on the upper fender mount. Once I did, it really pulled everything inline. Looks great, thanks for the help

I think I saw another post saying you had a right fender for 71 charger - can you tell me what you have and want for it?
