On the battery harness there is a tan wire as seen in the photo that stops a few inches from the bulkhead connectors. The other end stops at a un-insulated blade connector between the starter and the transmission (4 speed) reverse light switch. What is this tan wire for?
Thanks

If this were a 72 I would say hood directional indicator light and there would be a similar connection by the wiper motor but I do not remember seeing them on the hood in 71.

71 they are fender mounted but that doesn't explain the other side of the wire?

I'm beginning to think its something specific for the automatic transmission that isn't on a 4 speed

I figured it out, it's the tach wire that goes in connector spot #20 and the other side goes into the engine harness to the coil
