Hey guys, I was wondering if a 1973 Roadrunner hood would fit on a 1971 Satellite? Thanks!

I think it will bolt on, but the front edge is different, and it may not close or latch without modification.

Here are some measurements for the hood you want to try, while i was out there i measured the header panel to, I don't know if this will help much but you can use the measurements to check with your existing hood and get a idea. Mine is a Satellite but it does have the RR hood on it, not by choice but its the same as you want to do. Good luck with it.

BACK (up by windshield) 52 1/4
Sides 1/8 in short of 5 ft. Holding rule down as it curves up in the back!
FRONT 52 1/8

HEADER PANEL 5 1/2 on each side
7 1/2 In the very middle...

This is the only pic i had without going out and should give you an idea if you take a photo of yours in the same position and compare all the different curves and what not, i have no idea if this hood latch the same as one on your car. the second pic will show the bottom latch not much of the top one. hope it helps.

Thanks for the measurements. After YY1 mentioned the front edge I went back and looked at the picture I posted the link to. The car in the picture has a 73-74 hood but there is a sight raised part on the front edge that doesn't match the 71-71 front end. But it does look good with the 73 hood nostrils!

I love those hoods.

The do look like snorting mad nostrils!

Next time I find one for sale cheap, I'm gonna buy it so I can try to mod it to work on one of my Chargers.
I've seen about 1/2 dozen in the past year for $250 or less, while Charger bulge hoods are more than double that or more.

That's a good idea. I wonder if I could cut out the nostril bulge and weld it to the Satellite hood?

Better yet, cut the front edge off of a 72 Satellite hood and cut the front edge off of a 73 RR hood and graft the 72 front section onto the 73 hood.

That's the pic of the car I posted in the link above. You can see the slight ridges in the front lip on the hood on the left and the right. It still looks good though.

those hood pins look wack where they are located
they belong alot closer to the corners of the hood

I don't know why peole do that.

I mean, come ON, there are already holes for them on the core support on some models, and there are tons of pics and refernce cars around.
