A local lady asked me to look at her son's car she has been storing for 12+ years. Its a 1976 charger, odom. shows 60,000+, might be 160,000...

The car does not run, the seats are ripped, the trunk floor is rusted through. ETC

I explained that this isn't the most sought after body but I have no idea what it is worth. I'm try'n to help her out by asking all of you.

thanks in advance! IMG_0857.jpgIMG_0858.jpgIMG_0861.jpgIMG_0863.jpg

I would think she would be lucky to get $2000 for it. Like you said it needs a lot of work and doesn't run. And like you said not the most desireable Mopar.

that is actually a one year only , base model charger sport and used the Plymouth fury platform. the charger Daytona and SE models used the cordoba body. it is a fairly rare car in its own right. there are not many around. if its rusted , then that's going to really hurt the value. I would say 2500

That has the potential to be a boss pimpmobile, but from what I know, there's not much value there. Realistic number IMHO is $1500.

Let her down easy big'un. She been storing it for 12 years and possibly parking outside because of it (for her son). Looks to me with a little work / hopefully not seized engine it could be a pretty cool driver. Not every old Mopar can be valued based on collectability but this would be a cool driver as is with just fixing up the basics ... maybe.

Thanks to everyone. You've confirmed what I suspected...

I can say i honestly tried to get real info on its value. I agree it would make a fun driver but I couldn't intertain the idea of dumping money into it.

She is going to have to decide what to do with it, scrap it or pay to move it into storage.

This car is a perfect example of what ebay was made for! This car is worth scrap value unless you can find a buyer who genuinely wants that year/model of car, and there aren't many around so finding one locally would be a miracle.

Have her put the car on ebay at $1,000 and see what happens. At worst it doesn't sell, at best the half-dozen or so guys who think this year/model is the cat's *** bid it up. Make sure she plays up the story of the car being stored for 12 years, that this is an unmolested survivor car, barn find, etc.
