OK, so I was good and pissed that I did a poor job of evaluating the 72 400-4 barrel car I bought yesterday, so....

Today I went out and bought this-

73 base Sat RL21G
318 auto on column, bench. Has a/c and a floor mat.
Green interior (like 70% of the rest of them).
53700 original miles
Original spare
Super Solid
99.999% rust free

This thing is so original it's ridiculous.
Interior is near mint.
Perfect dash, perfect door panels and rear seat.
One small 1.5 inch rip on front seat.
Perfect headliner.
Floor mat is craking up.
Original trunk mat

Only things that don't work are wipers and defroster...
...and what are the odds I had to drive it 35 miles home in the pouring rain?

Bought from second owner who had it since 2004.
He bought it from the estate of a 90 something year old.

Ony mods are- Second owner installed the 15" Keystones, aftermarket front and rear sway bars, and aluminized dual exhaust.
Original owner installed a third brake light and a sweet RCA CB radio.

I have tons of parts that will fit, like power windows, rallye dash, slap stik console, even white bucket seats...and even my choice of black, white, tan, or pretty jade green complete interiors, but I don't think I can bring myself to do anything to it!

...well maybe a tuff wheel!

Wow, you bought a car you can actually get in and drive? Well, they say with age comes wisdom! Nice looking car, enjoy....

72 pics are in my last thread "...Like I needed another project car..."

This Satellite drives like you would expect a 50K mile car to drive.
As soon as I opened the door, I knew I could drive it anywhere.
I also knew I was gonna buy the car.
...and I got it for...$2500 less than the original asking price!

I said "would you consider $4,000?"

...and He said "Today?"

I said "about 20 minutes."

Started last week on CL for $6500, and the past few days was relisted every day for $100-200 less. (take notes here- that indicates a "motivated seller").

While we were walking into the bank, another prospective buyer called and boy was he PISSED!

The guy also had a 53 Studebaker, and a supercharged Riveira...and half a dozen motorcycles.
All in excellent condition.

I actually bought the roughest vehicle he owned!

if that is the roughest vehicle he had, i'd like to see his other ones.that was one good score.

Nice & clean looking car you got there. You dont find many in that good of shape anymore, but seems like when you do find one the seller has just watched Barrett/Jackson.

4000! That i guess would make up some on those others.. Have fun, its one nice looker to and the guy who was mad? I can see why without any problem, Finding one like that in the same shape would be nearly impossible again, especially up north hear....

"Stay tuned, it gets better.." i see! I believe! enjoy!

Freakin Sweet!!!

now all you need are lic. plates that say STOLEN!!! lol

congrats!!!!

Thanks. Pretty stoked about it.

On my long drive home (on the back roads) I had a flashback kinda deal about what it was like driving the car new and what else was going on in 72/73 (I was 5), then I had another flashback about having that same kind of flashback when I drove my first 60's car back in the 80's.

Wow, a multilevel flashback!

It's gonna need a master cyl. I had to stop and buy brake fluid because I kept losing more and more pedal.
Now I see the fluid is running out the back.

I wonder how to clean and prep the firewall and frame so it doesn't eventually rust out where the fluid has eaten the paint off?

Im glad ya foubd a winner (finally) i wishi had a tall budget. Uts a slloooowww process with me, 4 mopars and only ones drivabke

Is 5K a tall budget?

Between this and that 72, it cleaned me out.

I've got about $95 bucks until the end of the month!

Scratch that- $75, I just ordered a master cylinder. Should be in about 1:30.

More pics-

I dig that car!. If it was me, I'd keep it in its original state as you have it now. The only thing I'd do is freshen up the engine bay, thats it. Gotta love the CB radio..."breaker, breaker"...lol Good luck with it.

Believe it or not, the pic of the door jamb is one of only two places I could find any body work. Looks like the quarter to rocker seam started to go. The other is directly above it on the roof. No idea what the deal is with that.
