I can't read the pic posted by Pops, but from my experience there is no solid CFM numbers available for the OEM Carters (unless it's in this pic). Looking at the throttle bores one can suggest that the 1-7/16" / 1-11/16" combo is somewhere in the 500 CFM range and the 1-11/16" squared is in the high 600's. Also there is wet flow vs. dry flow and at a specific pressure drop, etc.. I have no idea how Carter measured them. I think they used the wet flow method but not sure.
those afb's were never rated by cfm. nobody knew much about or understood cfm ratings until the late '60's when holleys became popular. carter used a alpha sytem to designate carb size; like A series, B series, etc. i would think that carb would be an A series, 4.9" of venturi (carter also used venturi area to rate carbs). true cfm by todays standards would probaly be between 450-500. there were some afbs that were smaller, 235hp-273 for example.
