How much weight do you think I would lose off the nose, by replacing the intake and heads with aluminum intake and heads?

Any other weight loss tips would be greatly appreciated.

BTW: 73 Charger Rallye

About 40 for the heads and 25-30 for the intake.

Light weight starter is about 7 LB less.

Light weight alternator will shave around 5 or so.

Aluminum water pump.

Aluminum rad

Light weight master cylinder

Street car or race car? Lot of things you could do to loose weight just some are not that good for a street car.

It is a street car, not trying to strip it down. Just make the HP I have more efficent.

I put my 66 Belvedere on a diet when I got it....went from 3370 down to 2950 and didn't touch the engine or air conditioning. Got rid of the undercoating, put on a glass hood and took off the front bumper ala 55 Chevy style lol. Rear window cranks and gear went too....

So race drilling parts is a little over the top then? LOLOk so no lexan or any thing crazy.

Well fiberglass is always a good way to go. Hood and bumpers would be good.

Light weight aluminum rims will not only cut weight but also shave off some rotational mass.

Just depends on how in to it you want to get and what you can and cant live with out.

Like a radio or heater delete. Will shave some weight but may also be some thing you would like to have.

Or taking out all the sound deadener will save a few pounds but can you live with that?

One thing to do is look at every part of the car and see if you don't need it and can remove it or maybe replace it with a lighter part or if not can you lighten it up some.

Does anybody make Fiberglass fenders and trunk lids?

I see hoods and I have not seen anything but steel bumpers.

I see I'm not the only one that drills holes everywhere lol. I also use a Greenlee knockout punch set for anywhere that's hidden behind door panels etc. I also use aluminum back plates for the door hinges....

Some one should. Try looking up AAR, Up22, VFN, unlimited. Also for a street car stay away from race weight parts. There to flimsy for a street car.

LOL! Ya I am a little nuts. Would not do that to a street car. This is for a drag only car with lexan windows.

Thats a good idea! Thanks for the tip. HMMM where did I put that scrap aluminum?
