hi guys, I've been offered some old Skool slot mags in 15 x 8.5", but the backspace is 4" and the vendor thinks the tyres may rub.
Is anyone able to advise from experience? Car is a 73 RR.
Thanks

I think the backspacing is too little. I believe these will likely rub the inner quarter panel with any decent size tire.

On a 73 Road Runner (now my son's) I used 15 x 8 wheels with a 4 1/2 inch backspace. Tires fit very well with these.

On a 73 runer 4 aint enough. I have 15x8 cragar ss with 4.25 and wish I had gone with 5. I.m runnin BFGs at 275 in the rear and had to roll the frnder a touch to keep from rubbing on the out side when turning from a flat to an up hill. I have the same rims on the front with 245s and it looks real nice, no front rub.

Thanks guys, the tyres in question are only 235 series MT Drag Radials. Was going to put these tyres on the 8.5 rims in question. Looks as if the rims are too wide for the tyres anyway.
I just was going to use them for the very occassional, run up the strip. Looks like ill need slightly slimmer wheels as Drag Radials are very rare this side of the pond so I can't get wider ones easily.
